Already this week, two stages of the World Rally Cross Championship will take place on Biķernieki track. For the time being, there is still silence on the track, but on Wednesday all the teams will come here and start building motor homes, Raimonds Strokšs, the organizer of the competition, the director of AR Events, told Rīta Panorāmai.

From Monday, one team has been living in Biķerniieki, which, according to Strokšs, is large and takes more time to build a motor home.

If there will be practically no changes on the track during these stages of the rallycross championship, then the changes will affect the spectators. There are fewer stands, the chairs are marked to follow the distance in terms of reducing the spread of Covid-19. Stroks urges those lucky rallycross visitors who will have the opportunity to watch the race in person, to follow the rules of distance and guards, as well as to take face fees, which will not have to be used.

Given that there will be two stages in one weekend, rallycross pilots will have less time for mistakes. If there is an accident or a technical problem, you will probably not be able to go to the next start due to time limits.

Although under the Covid-19 sign, the competition promises to be quite interesting, also because it will be possible to see two Latvian pilots on the track – Reini Nitišs and Jānis Baumanis. True, everyone will go to their own class. Nitišs will start with his new car “Škoda” in the SuperCar class, but Baumanis will start with the electric car in the “Projekt E” class. Stroks points out that it will be very interesting to watch the speed of electric cars, which do not even use full power. True, there will not be many participants in this class.

Although summer weather is prevalent in Latvia for the time being, the weather promises to be much autumnier already at the weekend. Stroks expressed the hope that one day of the competition could be sunny, but the other rainy, which would allow to experience two different events on one track.
