Suara.com – Eating at a restaurant may be more at risk related to transmission of the Covid-19 corona virus than taking public transportation or getting a haircut at a salon.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) highlighted the risks of activities where a person cannot always wear a mask and practice social distancing, such as eating and drinking in restaurants.
In that study, they analyzed information from 314 adults who tested for Covid-19 at one of 11 health care facilities in the United States.
All of the participants had experienced some of the symptoms for which they were tested. About half of the participants tested positive for the Covid-19 corona virus and the other half were negative.
Initially, participants were interviewed about their activities for 14 days before symptoms occurred, including going to shops, gyms, offices, salons, bars, restaurants to public transportation.
Overall, people who tested positive for the coronavirus were twice as likely to have eaten at a restaurant 14 days before becoming sick.
When researchers excluded people who had had contact with Covid-19 patients, they found that people who tested positive for Covid-19 were almost 3 times more likely to eat at restaurants and 4 times more likely to go to bars.
“Exposure and activities in places where it is difficult to apply masks and social distancing, such as eating in restaurants, may be a risk factor for infection with the Covid-19 corona virus,” the researchers said. Live Science.
The CDC has also recommended ways to reduce the risk of transmitting the Covid-19 corona virus when eating at restaurants, including wearing a mask as often as possible when not eating and maintaining a distance of 1.8 meters from other people.
It is also recommended that you sit outdoors whenever possible and make sure the restaurant is implementing the health protocols recommended by the experts.
