150 cases of coronavirus less when 2782 PCR tests were performed more – this is the summary for the past week (27.07 – 02.08.20, as the dates reflect the release of the reports in the Unified Information Portal, and each report reflects the situation on the day before its release) in Bulgaria. Thus, both as an absolute number and as a percentage on a weekly basis, there is a tendency to decrease the severity of the infection. The percentage for the past week is 4.32 percent, with an average infection rate of 4.36 percent since April 29, when the National Operational Headquarters (NSS) began to regularly submit data on the number of newly diagnosed cases and the number of PCR tests performed daily. .

As a percentage reduction in cases is already the third week, but as an absolute number is not. In the week 13.07 – 19.07.20 the percentage compared to the tests performed was 5.18 percent (1463 positive samples in 28,230 PCR tests performed), the following week, ie. 20.07 – 26.07 was 5.16 percent (1674 positive samples in 32 426 PCR tests), and now there is a decrease in both indicators – 1524 cases in 35 208 PCR tests performed last week. But as an absolute number there is a movement up and down in the last 4 weeks – 1498 established cases for the period 06.07 – 12.07.20, 1463 for the period 13.07 – 19.07.20, 1674 for the period 20.07 – 26.07.20 and 1524 for the period 27.07 – 02.08. 20. However, more PCR tests were performed in each of these weeks than in the previous week.

There are 211 more cases of coronavirus identified during this reporting week (20.07 – 26.07.20) in Bulgaria compared to the previous one …

The big problem remains the workload of hospitalsbecause the healing process takes more time! To date, there are 793 people in the hospital, 43 of whom are in intensive care units. This means that 5.42% of those admitted to a medical institution are in an intensive care unit. In general, worldwide this percentage is around 5 percent, but a week ago in Bulgaria it was 4.75 percent (33 in the intensive care unit compared to 694 in the hospital in total). This week (27.07 – 02.08.20) there is a 10 increase in hospital compared to last level – 99 compared to 89, and 10 more in the intensive care unit – 43 compared to 33! There has never been such a sharp increase in the number of people in the intensive care unit since the state of emergency. According to official NHIF data provided to Actualno.com at the end of June, the average hospital stay of a COVID-19 patient is 29 days!! However, this includes both people in the intensive care unit and only the moderate and slightly milder cases, which, however, go to the hospital. According to an official study in Germany, published in the authoritative medical journal Lancet and in Deutsche Welle, for the period 26 February – 19 April this year, those who enter the hospital without reaching a respirator stay there for an average of 12 days, and those in a respirator – 25 days, with an average stay of 14 days. However, the German study mainly looked at COVID-19 mortality, according to 920 German hospitals for more than 10,000 patients in total, all with moderate to severe symptoms. The conclusion is that 53% of those placed on a respirator die, and the probability of death is higher by the tenth day of intubation and placement of a respirator, but with the explicit specification that 76% of those in need of a respirator are older. .е. over 60 years and with concomitant diseases. 56% of those placed on a respirator had high blood pressure, 28% with diabetes, and 27% with arrhythmia. In conclusion – It is obvious that in order to reduce the burden on hospitals in Bulgaria, a longer trend of reducing the number of new cases is needed, which has not been observed so far – there are only 2 weekly fluctuations up and down since the beginning of June. down as an absolute number did not stay for the third week. At the same time, the data from the reporting platform created on the initiative of Assoc. Prof. Emiliana Konova and rapid tests by private laboratories show almost no change in the percentage of people who successfully passed the infection and developed immunoglobulin G antibodies – those that show visible presence. of resistance forces. It is 2.2 percent – 146 people out of 6781 people surveyed, ie. for the week another 83 people were examined. The situation with the PCR tests is no different – 2.1% positive, with a total of 1169 people enrolled. In this system data are provided by 23 private laboratories, none of which is one of the largest in Bulgaria.
