Jokowi Issues Mandatory Inpres of Sanctions for Violators of Health Protocol

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 6 of 2020 concerning Improving Discipline and Law Enforcement of Health Protocols in the Prevention and Control of Covid-19.

The Presidential Instruction dated August 4, 2020 included regulating sanctions for violators of health protocols.

At the Presidential Instruction posted on the official website of the State Secretariat, Wednesday (5/8/2020) Jokowi ordered all governors, regents / mayors to draw up and determine the corona virus prevention regulations (Covid-19).

Regulations made by each regional head must contain sanctions for violations of the application of the health protocol.

Sanctions apply to violations committed by individuals, business actors, managers, organizers, or those responsible for public places and facilities.

Sanctions can be in the form of verbal or written warning, social work, administrative fines, to the temporary suspension or closure of business operations.
