India recorded the highest number of deaths of coronavirus patients in one day – 904 people, the Associated Press reported.
New infections increased by 56,282 to nearly 2 million, the health ministry said. The death toll is already 40,699, of which 20,000 in the last 30 days, BTA reports.
In the last 14 days, however, the indicators for those who have recovered from the disease have improved – they are already 67 percent, while two weeks ago they were 63 percent. Nearly 600,000 patients are still in treatment. The coronavirus mortality rate for India is 2.09 percent.
The most affected states are Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
Eight COVID-19 patients died today in a fire that broke out in the intensive care unit of a private hospital in the western city of Ahmedabad, Reuters reported. An investigation into the tragedy has begun. According to the emergency services, the reason was that the safety equipment of one of the employees in the hospital caught fire. He tried to put out the fire, but it quickly engulfed the entire compartment.
