Survey reports that hair loss is widespread in Kovid patients. In a survey of more than 1,500 people by the Survivor Corp Facebook group, 27 percent of Kovid Muktars reported experiencing hair loss.

Doctors say that telogen effluvium is a temporary phenomenon that can cause hair loss in some people. Some people who have gone through illness, surgery, high fever, a stressful event, childbirth, or overeating may have a temporary condition called telogen effluvium.

What is telogen effluvium

Hair has a growth phase and a resting phase. At any given time, 90 percent of the hair is at some stage of growth. But when the body reaches a certain stress level, it switches to protection mode. The hair growth cycle changes and more hairs move to the resting stage. This will increase the hair loss. Dermatologists say that hair is important for aesthetics, but that the body does not take care of the hair when there is a fever or other problems.

But doctors point out that this is only a temporary phenomenon and that within a few weeks or months the hair growth cycle will return to normal.
