FROM an Air India Express plane carrying 191 people on board crashed in the southern Indian city of Kozhikod (Calicut) in Kerala, news agencies reported.

At least 15 people have been killed and dozens injured, according to Reuters.
A pilot from the state of Kerala was quoted as saying by the French press, and the media reported at least 40 passengers admitted to hospital.

The Boeing 737 was coming from Dubai and left the runway on landing. His hull has split in two, local television reported. It rained heavily during the crash.

Civil Aviation Ministry spokesman Rajiv Jain said no fire had been reported during the hard landing on the plane. The crew consisted of two pilots and five cabin crew. There were 10 children among the passengers, the Associated Press reported.
