They sent a football player to prison for five years


Former Portuguese youth national Ruben Semedo has been sentenced to five years in prison, Levante El Mercantil Valenciano reports.

The former Sporting (Lisbon), Villarreal and Olympiacos player was arrested in the winter of 2018 for robbery, armed assault, kidnapping and illegal possession of a weapon.

The now 26-year-old former defense attorney has been found guilty. He was also banned from visiting Spain for the next eight years.

After his arrest, Semedo spent five months behind bars and was later released on 30,000 euros bail.
