For the second day in a row, more than 70,000 new people infected with the coronavirus were registered in the United States and more than 1,000 died from the Kovid-19 disease caused by it, BTA reported.

For the 24-hour period until 20.30 Eastern time yesterday (3.30 Bulgarian time today) the new cases are nearly 73,800, compared to 76,500 the previous day. More than 1,150 people died in 24 hours from COVID-19.

The United States is the country most affected by the pandemic, with the most infected and dead. There are about 4.1 million reported cases of coronavirus. Of these people, 1.26 million have already recovered and more than 145,000 have died.
After the coronavirus situation in the United States began to improve in late spring, the epidemic began to pick up speed again in the country last month, especially in the southern and western states with large populations such as Texas, Florida and California, AFP reported.

President Donald Trump has rightly changed his policy and rhetoric about the coronavirus, the chief infectious disease specialist of the government, Anthony Fauci, was quoted as saying by DPA. Trump has an “awareness of reality,” he said in an interview with Fox News.

After downplaying the danger of the coronavirus for a long time and refusing to wear a mask, the US president took a sharp turn in his position on the issue. This week, he was photographed with a covered face during a visit to a military hospital and resumed regular daily briefings on the situation with the epidemic. This came amid President Republican’s significant lag behind likely Democrat candidate Joe Biden in opinion polls 100 days before the November election.
