This happened at a memorial ceremony
Spain honored the memory of its more than 28,000 victims of COVID-19 with a memorial ceremony. In the presence of King Felipe VI, European leaders Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel, World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adanom Gebrejesus and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, Spain recalled the difficult months of the pandemic.
Nearly a month after the end of the strict quarantine, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in the country is growing again and the authorities are closely monitoring about 120 active outbreaks.
“First of all, let’s remember the people who died. Let us pass on to their families our deepest sorrow and most sincere support. Let’s give them our love and the most emotional hug. You are not alone in the pain. This is a pain we share, their mourning is ours and is shared by all Spaniards. “Moral duty and civic duty make us all unite our will, capacity and knowledge, all our efforts and work, so that we can look to the future with confidence and hope,” said King Felipe VI of Spain.
