Signing Jalan Djoko Tjandra’s Letter, Chief of Police Dismissed Position of Brigjen Prasetyo

57 – National Police Chief Gen. Idham Azis has officially removed the Head of the National Police Bareskrim PPNS Coordinating and Oversight Bureau Brigadier General Prasetyo Utomo from his position because it was proven to have abused his authority in relation to the issuance of road letters for fugitives Djoko Tjandra.

Brig. Gen. Prasetyo was removed from his post and transferred to the Yanma Police Headquarters Officer.

This decision was stated in the Telegram (TR) letter of the National Police Chief numbered ST / 1980 / VII / Kep / 2020 dated July 15, 2020.

Head of Public Relations of Police Headquarters Inspector General Argo Yowono confirmed the contents of the telegram letter. Argo said that Brigjen Pol Prasetyo was removed from his post because it had been proven to have violated it.

“Yes (proven to have violated). There is already a TR (telegram of the National Police) removed (from office),” Argo said when confirmed, Wednesday (07/15/2020).

The name of the PPNS Bareskrim Coordinating and Supervising Bureau Chief of the National Police Brigadier General Prasetyo Utomo became the discussion after allegedly issuing a road letter for the fugitive from the Attorney General’s Office in connection with the Bank Bali bills or cessie case, Djoko Tjandra.

Based on the photos received by, the road letter which was intended for Djoko Tjandra was seen as head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the PPNS Coordination and Supervision Bureau. The travel document printed with number SJ / 82 / VI / 2020 / Rokorwas, dated June 18, 2020 and was signed by the Head of the Policing and Supervision of PPNS Bareskrim Polri Brigadier General Prasetyo Utomo.

The travel document contained the name Joko Soegiarto Tjandra alias Djoko Tjandra with a position as a consultant. It was also stated that Djoko Tjandra was about to leave from Jakarta for Pontianak, West Kalimantan on June 19 and return on June 22, 2020 for consultation and coordination.

For this reason, the National Police has also acknowledged the existence of a travel document issued by Brigadier General Prasetyo for Djoko Tjandra to free travel from Jakarta to West Kalimantan. However, the National Police claimed that the letter was issued on the initiative of Brigjen Pol Prasetyo without the knowledge of the National Police Kabareskrim Komjen Listyo Sigit Prabowo as its leader.

“That is an initiative of its own and not permitted by the leadership. So make it yourself and then now in the process of inspection at Propam,” Argo said at a press conference at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Wednesday (07/15/2020).
