Latvian tennis player Anastasia Sevastova triumphed on Sunday at the Bett1 Aces show tournament in Berlin.
The 43rd rocket of the world ranking in the Sevastov finals with the result 3-6, 6-3, 10: 5 beat the Czech Peter Kvitov, who ranks 12th in the rating.
Sevastova started the match successfully, maturing the opponent, but lost his second serve, which allowed the Czech to reach 2-2. Kvitova from Liepaja also broke in the eighth game and continued to win the set with 6-3.
The second set went similarly until in the eighth game Sevastova took away the opponent’s serve and in the next game won – 6-3. The winner of the sample tournament was determined in a super break, where Sevastova quickly reached 5: 1, then did not use three match balls until he reached 10: 5, putting a point to the match.
Sevastova had more double mistakes (4: 3), but Kvitova had far more unforced errors (34:19).
It has already been reported that Sevastova defeated the Dutchman Kiki Bertens in the semifinals on Friday with 6-1, 6-4, who ranks seventh in the world. Sevastova had to meet Bertens for third place in the first tournament, but it was canceled.
On Saturday, in the semifinals, the Latvian athlete defeated the world-ranked fifth racket Jeļina Svitoļina 6-1, 6-1.
The second tournament took place in a hard-surfaced hangar at Berlin Tempelhof Airport, while the first took place in a stadium named after Steff County on the grass courts, but was not completed due to rain.
It has already been reported that in the first round of the first tournament of Sevastov, the German Julia Gerges was defeated 6-3, 4-3, with the opponent leaving in the second set due to an ankle injury. In the semifinals, Sevastova gave up to Svitolina with 6-7 (2: 7), 3-6.
Sevastov’s official games have not taken place since the end of February. It is planned that in a week and a half she will take part in the Latvian-Estonian national team match competition in Tallinn.
