Nepal: Oli-Prachanda talks torn apart

Kathmandu: .

Prime Minister K.P. Sunday’s meeting with Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, the former Prime Minister of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal, were not resolved. The meeting was under intense pressure from within the party for Oli’s resignation. The next phase of the debate is scheduled for Monday morning.
The Prime Minister reached the official residence of the Prime Minister soon after the meeting with President Bidya Devi Bhandari. The two leaders, who share the presidency of the NCP, are trying to resolve the internal issues of the ruling party through negotiations before the parliamentary session.

There was fierce opposition to Oli’s allegation that India was conspiring to oust him from the post of Prime Minister. At the party’s standing committee meeting on Tuesday, a majority of the members called for Oli’s resignation. The party’s crucial meeting will take place on Monday to make further decisions.
