Thiruvananthapuram: A veteran has died of Kovid’s disease in the state today. Father KG Varghese is a native of Nalachchira, Thiruvananthapuram. He was 77 years old. Father Varghese died this morning. He was admitted to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital following a lung infection.
He was first treated at a different hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was shifted to a medical college for surgery. It is known that he did not find Kovid at the time. Father Varghese was reported to have other serious health problems besides lung infection.
His Kovid test came out this afternoon. It is not known where he was infected with the Kovid virus. Father was injured in an accident on April 20 and was taken to a hospital. He was discharged on May 20 after treatment. He was taken back to the hospital on May 30. It was followed by shortness of breath.
According to reports, he was visited by several people. The fever later became acute pneumonia. His sap was then sent for examination. The results of the post-mortem examination showed that Kovid was positive. There have been no reported cases of Covid in his native place. With the death of Father Varghese, there have been 11 deaths in the state.
Meanwhile, Kovid-19 has been confirmed for 86 people in the state. Of these, 46 were from overseas. 26 were from other states. 12 people got infected through contact. Of the 19 patients who were diagnosed with the disease, the results were negative. A total of 774 people have been diagnosed with the disease and are undergoing treatment in the state. 627 people have so far been released from Kovid.
