An online petition received support from more than 1,000 people
Exports of Lada cars to the EU were stopped at the end of 2019, and the last units of the Lada 4×4 model were delivered to a German dealer in March. It turns out that interest in the Russian brand continues to exist and that is why even in Germany they want his return.
A petition appeared on the Internet urging for sales recovery of all Lada models in Germany and the EU. It was supported by the main distributor of Lada Deutschland GmbH – Dieter Trask, and was addressed to AvtoVAZ, the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance and the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
“Lada offers a large selection of niche models, which have several advantages. First, they are unrivaled in price and therefore affordable for more people. And secondly – for 40 years the brand has fans in Europe, as well as loyal customers. Moreover, new dealerships have been opened in recent years, “said the petition, which was signed by more than 1,000 people.
However, Lada’s return to the EU is not included in the new marketing policy of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, part of which is AvtoVAZ. The strategy was also adopted in response to the coronavirus pandemic, which dealt a severe blow to the automotive industry.
“We have long known that we will leave Europe because introduced new environmental standards in the EU and it is not advisable to invest in engine upgrades due to small sales. In the future, however, the return of Lada is not ruled out, but it is still too early to say with which model, “commented AvtoVAZ.
