The Bulgarian donation was provided on the initiative of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva and is funded by the Bulgarian official development assistance.It is part of our support for 12 countries – from the Western Balkans, the Eastern Partnership and the Southern Neighborhood, at a total value of BGN 636,150. It provides 4,150 sets of protective clothing and 5,336 food packages.
The donation was handed over by the Bulgarian Ambassador Radko Vlaykov at a ceremony at the Clinical Center – Nis, which was attended by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Tonchev, the Head of the Nis District Dragana Sotirovski, the Mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic and the directors of the hospitals in Nis, Vranje, Surdulica, Pirot, Pancevo, Leskovac, Tsaribrod and Tsaribrod. In the spirit of the excellent relations between the two countries, Bulgaria provides assistance, which is an expression of European solidarity in the fight against COVID-19, stressed Ambassador Vlaykov.
Serbian officials thanked the Bulgarian government for its support in fighting the coronavirus.
This is the second such Bulgarian donation in Serbia, after 132 sets of reusable medical protective clothing were handed over in Tsaribrod on May 4th to the areas inhabited by the majority of the Bulgarian national minority.
The protective kits provided today are manufactured by Bulgarian companies according to the highest standards – The suits are reusable, made of a special light and breathable fabric, providing maximum protection for the medical staff.
Similar kits, aid from Bulgaria, have already been delivered through our embassies to the Republic of Northern Macedonia, Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Moldova, Ukraine.
