Thiruvananthapuram. Today is the first solar eclipse seen in this decade. The 3-hour eclipse, including in North India, is part of Kerala. It can be found in Thiruvananthapuram from 10.14 am to 1.15 pm. The maximum portion will be visible at 11.40am. Due to the rainy season, the clouds may sometimes obscure the view.
The eclipse is visible in the northeastern part of the sky. The maximum sunlight available will be 34.7% of the total visible light.
Do not view the eclipse with the naked eye. The solar filter can only be viewed with attached glasses. The eclipse can be viewed in real-time through the Science Technology Museum’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ksstmuseum/
