Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in West Bengal following the Umpun cyclone. The prime minister looked at the helicopter to see the areas that had been destroyed.

The Prime Minister landed in Kolkata wearing a mask. He was received by Governor Jagdeep Dhankar and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. They also wore masks.

Mamata Banerjee has called on the Prime Minister to declare the Umpun cyclone a national disaster. About 80 people have been killed in the state due to the cyclone.

This is the Prime Minister’s first trip two and a half months after the lockdown. His last tour was on February 29 at Prayagraj and Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh.

The nationwide lockdown was announced by the Prime Minister in March following the spread of Kovid and the lockdown was extended three times. The Prime Minister decided to take the tour after 83 days as it was a very bad situation. He visited Calcutta and 24 North Parganas.

He will observe the sky and attend review meetings. The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted on Twitter Thursday night that talks on relief and rehabilitation will be held there.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will meet with the Prime Minister in a helicopter for aerial surveillance. The Prime Minister will leave for Odisha after his visit to West Bengal.
