Every year about 6,000 Bulgarian students go to America. The brigades were to be ongoing from mid-May. However, the date has been postponed several times, and is currently scheduled for mid-June. Visas are also postponed indefinitely, putting many students in a position to give up their dream trip.

As part of the Association of Participants in Student Brigades, Nelly monitors the situation with dozens of other Bulgarians preparing for brigades.

“Employers themselves are delaying the start of the program and it probably won’t happen. I know that there are a lot of people who have taken out a loan and for them it is quite an unpleasant situation. At the moment, there are a lot of students who are dissatisfied with the fact that they will not be refunded or will pay penalties for which they are not to blame, “Nelly added.

The American embassy in Bulgaria recommended that students follow the website of the Bureau of Cultural and Educational Affairs at the State Department.

“The State Department has suspended visas at all US embassies. Our missions abroad will resume routine visa services as soon as possible, but we cannot give a specific date at this time. Travelers may be quarantined if they choose to travel. to the United States. ”
