Two were killed in violent clashes between protesters and police in the United States. Tensions over the death of an unarmed African-American in a police arrest in Minneapolis have swept across more than 30 American cities.

The governor of Minnesota announced that the tragedy had escalated into unbridled destruction. New York, Chicago and Los Angeles are just some of the cities where protests have intensified. A curfew was imposed in Minneapolis after protesters set fire to cars, looted shops and caused fires. In Atlanta, protesters smashed buildings and threw stones at CNN’s headquarters.
