Sudanese authorities have confiscated assets of former President Omar al-Bashir, his relatives and aides worth $ 4 billion, Al Arabiya television reported, citing data from Sudan’s anti-corruption commission.

The value of assets and stakes in various companies owned by the former president, his family members and his associates is estimated at between $ 3.5 billion and $ 4 billion.

Omar al-Bashir has ruled Sudan for 30 years and was ousted by the military in a coup on April 11, 2019, following mass public demonstrations.

The army set up a temporary military council, dissolved parliament and suspended the constitution.

In September 2019, a transitional government was established.

In December, the former head of state was sentenced to two years in prison on corruption charges.
