The number of coronavirus infections in the world has increased by nearly 110,000 in one day and exceeded 5.1 million,
announced today the World Health Organization / WHO /, TASS reported. The victims of Kovid-19 have increased by more than 5.6 thousand and exceed 333 thousand.
According to WHO data, as of 11:00 am today, 5,103,006 infected and 333,401 dead have been registered in the world. WHO statistics take into account only the official confirmed data on infections and mortality provided by countries, the agency notes.
The region of North and South America ranks first in the number of infected – 2,282,488. In one day, this number increased by 62,221. The number of deaths increased by 3,579 and reached 135,184. In Europe, there were 1,987,657 infected and 172,958 died. In 24 hours, the number of infected people increased by 21,413, and the number of deaths – by 1,631.
The Eastern Mediterranean region ranks third in the world in terms of the number of infected people. To date, 402,919 coronavirus cases and 10,806 deaths have been reported there.
The largest number of infected is registered in the United States – 1,547,973 people. Followed by Russia / 335 882 /, Brazil / 310 087 /, Great Britain / 254 199 /, Spain / 234 824 /, Italy / 228 658 /, Germany / 177 850 /, Turkey / 154 500 /, France / 141 949 / and Iran / 131 652 /.
