The new Haval model will also receive elements inspired by Land Rover
Haval, a division of Great Wall, has unveiled official photos of a brutal SUV in the style of the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Technical details about the car are missing, as the photos show only a darkened inscription, which can be translated as “I’m not H5”. It is not clear what the car will be called.
The press in China suggested that the new Haval model would be called the H5 and would be the successor to the 2005 Great Wall Hover frame SUV. It is now clear that the name will be different, but the H family will remain. For now, the project to create the model is known as B06.
The exterior of the machine is fully revealed, and it is clear that the designers of Haval were inspired by the new G-Class. The Chinese SUV has almost the same front optics, and the radiator grille is reminiscent of that of the current “Gelendevagen” in the G 500 / G 550 versions. The mirrors are identical to those of the previous generation of the German SUV.
At the rear, the resemblance to Mercedes is minimal, as apparently the Chinese model will be smaller. According to Chinese journalists, the Haval B06 is based on a new platform with a transverse engine layout. The range of units will include gasoline turbocharged engines with a volume of 1.5 and 2.0 liters, and the gearbox will be only one – a 7-speed preselective “robot”.
The interior is also clearly visible, and the SUV will receive an unusual virtual instrument panel. Most functions will be controlled by the touch screen of the multimedia system. There is a high central tunnel between the seats, and the transmission will be controlled by a washer. There is a similarity with the Land Rover models, which is not surprising – the new chief designer of Haval Phil Simmons, until recently worked for the British manufacturer.
