The Boeing 747-8s are leased from Korean Air for a five-year period. The company maintains the aircraft and supplies a crew. Korean Air also ensures that a replacement 747-8 is available if one of the aircraft has to remain on the ground.
Before the 747-8s, which are still classified for passenger transport by Korean Air, will serve as government aircraft, the aircraft will be modified. What exactly will be adapted to the devices is still unknown. Due to the modifications, the aircraft will not be put into service until the autumn of 2021.
