In recent years, Sloan has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease and has progressive dementia. He led the “jazzmen” 23 seasons from 1988 to 2011 (1223 games), and in his last season in 2011 he gave up after 54 matches.
“Jerry Sloan was synonymous with Utah Jazz. He will always be part of our club, an integral part of history,” the club said in a statement.
