New version of the catering protocol: maximum two people within 1.5 meters

The cabinet actually wanted everyone to keep 1.5 meters apart in the catering industry. That would also apply to families. KHN previously expected four people to sit within 1.5 meters of each other, even if they were not part of a household.

The trade association says that it has managed to get two people at the table ‘through intensive lobbying’. Moreover, people from the same household are now also allowed to sit at one table.

An example:

  • We do not have to keep two people from another household who eat out together 1.5 meters away
  • If it concerns three or more people, you can do that too. But they must keep 1.5 meters away
  • People from one household do not have to keep a distance of 1.5 meters, even if they are more than two
  • Larger groups are allowed, as long as sufficient distance can be kept.

Catering entrepreneurs are also conducting a test with special bulkheads, which can help to prevent the spread of the virus. If these partitions prove to work, they can be used in places where a distance of 1.5 meters is difficult to achieve.

The directive also states that people with health problems can be excluded from the catering industry. Guests are not allowed to stand on the terrace, only seats are allowed.
