Netflix will automatically end subscriptions that customers don’t use. The service tries to contact users who have not watched a year after the start of the subscription to give them the opportunity to keep their subscription.
The measure should prevent people from signing up and paying for something they don’t use. Those who have taken out a subscription but have not watched for a year, or who have not watched for two years, will receive an email or in-app notification within a week.
That message asks whether users want to keep their subscription. If this confirmation is not forthcoming, the subscription will end. Netflix claims to not only make it easy to become a customer, but also to cancel a subscription, and the company points out that users who reactivate their account within ten months will keep their settings.
