Microsoft is replacing dozens of journalists with robots

Microsoft will replace dozens of journalists on its MSN website with automated systems that will pick up news stories, the BBC reported.

Currently, the selection of news from the media, headlines and photos for the MSN site is done by journalists.

“These news tasks will be performed by artificial intelligence,” sources familiar with the Seattle Times told.

The technology giant announced that this is part of the assessment of the business.

“Like all companies, we regularly evaluate our business. These decisions are not the result of the current pandemic,” Microsoft said.

The company, like other technology companies, pays news organizations to use their content on its site.

But it also hires journalists to decide which news to publish and how to present it.

According to the Seattle Times, about 50 journalists will lose their jobs at the end of June, but a team of journalists will still remain at work.
