WASHINGTON – US President Donald Trump has announced he will postpone the G7 summit to be held in June. Trump said he would invite countries, including India and Russia, to the summit. Trump was speaking to reporters on Air Force One as he was returning to Washington from Cape Canavera, Florida.
I don’t think the G7 summit represents what’s happening in the world right now. So I’m postponing it. The G7 has become the oldest group of nations. Trump also said he wants to invite Russia, India, South Korea and Australia to the G7. He noted that the summit will be held before or after the United Nations summit to be held in September.
The G7 is set to hold a summit via video conference in June. Earlier this week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she had rejected Trump’s invitation to attend the summit.
