Former CSKA coach Luigi Simoni has died


Luigi Simoni, one of the most famous foreign coaches who worked in Bulgaria – Luigi Simoni, died at the age of 81. The Italian suffered a heart attack last June.
Simoni was the head coach of CSKA in the 2001/2002 season.

He is best known for his tenure as Inter coach in the 1997/98 season, when he and Brazilian Ronaldo managed to lead the team to the UEFA Cup and were close to the championship title. Simoni has managed seven times with five different teams to achieve promotion from Serie B to Serie A.

Luigi Simoni has coached Genoa, Brescia, Pisa, Lazio, Empoli, Cosenza, Cararese, Cremonese, Napoli, Inter, Piacenza. Torino, CSKA, Ancona, Siena and Lucchese.
