Figures continue to decline: 125 new infections, 23 deaths


There were 29 new hospital admissions in the past 24 hours. The number of deaths increased by 23. 125 new cases were reported. This is evident from the daily corona figures on Saturday. Of the new cases, 77 live in Flanders, 34 in Wallonia and 14 in Brussels. So, new infections are still being detected in our country, but trends continue to decline.

There were 29 new hospital admissions in the past 24 hours. A total of 890 patients are currently admitted to hospitals. There are a total of 173 patients in intensive care, which is a further decrease with 14 patients in the past 24 hours. 15,769 patients have been discharged from the hospital and declared cured since March 15, an increase from 87 in the past 24 hours.

A total of 9,453 deaths were reported, an increase from 23 over the past 24 hours. Of those 23, 13 people died in the hospital and 8 in a residential care center. In the latter group, one hundred percent was confirmed by a COVID test.

Of the total of 9,453 persons who died, 48 percent died in the hospital, 51 percent in a residential care center, 0.3 percent at home and 0.6 percent in another place. The hospital deaths are all confirmed cases. The deaths in residential care centers are both confirmed (25 percent) and suspected (75 percent) cases.

The total number of tests taken is 848,065, of which 11,186 were reported in the last 24 hours.
