AMSTERDAM (AFN) – The strong price losses on the stock exchanges as a result of the corona crisis reversed the return of Dutch investment funds in the first quarter for about a year and a half. De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) notes this.

According to the regulator, so-called investment institutions achieved a negative return of 11.7 percent in the first three months of the year. Invested assets also fell sharply. This decreased by 12.9 percent to 816.3 billion euros.

In 2019, according to DNB, with a plus of 18 percent, the highest annual return was achieved since the financial crisis. This was more than offset in one fell swoop last quarter. Stock markets fell worldwide as a result of the corona crisis. Both equity and bond funds suffered heavy losses as a result.

But DNB emphasizes that this is a snapshot, with the reference date at the end of the first quarter. Since then, stock markets around the world have recovered some of the losses.
