Coronavirus is transmitted only from person to person through intimate contact. This was announced to BTV by Assoc. Prof. Andrey Chorbanov, Head of the Department of Immunology at the Institute of Microbiology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

“Disinfections in kindergartens and schools are a good thing, they are useful against all kinds of pathological bacteria and cockroaches, but not against the virus. The virus does not live in the corners of the room, it does not spread there. It does not live outside, it does not move outside our body. The virus is a special pathogen that is transmitted from person to person in extremely intimate contact, “explained the immunologist.

According to him, there has been a lot of speculation about how long the virus lives outside our body, and in the end it turned out that it does not stay and spread through surfaces.

According to him, the proof is that 5 million people are infected worldwide with coronavirus at the moment, which is nothing compared to the spread of influenza worldwide.

Assoc. Prof. Chorbanov sees no problem in opening kindergartens, because it has been proven that the virus is not transmitted from child to child.

He concluded that the antibodies found in the tests did not give a real idea of whether a person was immune to the coronavirus. A huge number of people do not build antibodies, but they may have immunity, says Assoc. Prof. Chorbanov.
