Unpaid leave until September
According to Johnson, therefore, even less personnel is needed for the time being. The unpaid leave period for many US employees will be extended until the end of September, according to a letter sent to staff.
Starbucks was already severely affected by the corona crisis in the first months, it became known in April. Before the virus hit Europe and the United States, the chain had to close many branches in China. In that country, the branches could be reopened earlier. Sales in already opened cases have since returned to about 80 percent of the level of a year ago.
