A strong storm ruined one of the new 7 wonders of the world PHOTOS

A strong thunderstorm that engulfed parts of northern India damaged parts of the Taj Mahal complex, including the main gate and a railing passing under the five domes, AFP reported, quoted by “Focus”.

One of the seven new wonders of the world, India’s most popular tourist attraction has been closed since mid-March as part of measures to combat the new coronavirus pandemic.”A sandstone railing, which is part of the original structure, has been damaged,” India’s chief archaeologist Vasant Kumar Suarnkar told AFP.

“A marble railing that was built later and the foundation stone of the main gate were also damaged.”

He added that there was no damage to the main structure of the monument of love – built by Emperor Mughal Shah Jahan as a tomb for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to his child in 1631.

Local media reported that thunderstorms on Friday killed at least 13 people in two areas of Uttar Pradesh.
