Footage circulated on the Internet showed that thick clouds of smoke were rising at the scene. One of the recordings shows the wreckage of buildings and debris scattered along the street, as well as protruding electrical wires at the crash site.

The plane was flying from Lahore to Karachi. It crashed near the airport where it was supposed to land.

The Pakistani military says it has sent a rapid reaction force to the area to help with the search operation. Footage from local Geo TV also showed a large crowd near the crash site, which appears to be in a densely populated area.
Ambulances are trying to break through the crowd to get to the crash site, it can be seen from the footage.

The last major plane crash in Pakistan was in December 2016, when a passenger plane of the same airline crashed in a northern mountainous region, killing 47 people.
