Former Serbian striker Milan Mardakovic, who was about to be transferred to Levski, committed suicide in his apartment in Belgrade, Serbian media reported.
In front of his girlfriend, the 38-year-old football player sat on the bed with a gun in his hand, said “I can’t do it anymore” and pulled the trigger.
His wife ran away screaming from the apartment, then called the police, but upon arrival, the uniformed men only stated his death. It is still unknown what problems Murdakovic had to end his life.
In the summer of 2011, Milan was about to be transferred to Levski. The then general manager of the “blues” Georgi Ivanov – Gonzo traveled to Serbia and met with him personally, but in the end he signed with AEK Larnaca.
In his career, Murdakovic has played for teams from 10 countries in Europe and Asia, including Ghent in Belgium, Salzburg in Austria, Shandong in China, Ethnikos and Apollo in Cyprus, Maccabi Tel Aviv and others. In 2017, he finished his career in the Serbian OFK. He participated in the European Youth Championship in 2002 in the team of Serbia and Montenegro, as well as in the Olympics in 2008 in the team of Serbia.
