A doctor talks about the dangers of apricots

Antonina Starodobova, an independent nutritionist with the Moscow Ministry of Health, told the Moscow News Agency that excessive eating of apricots not only causes digestive problems but can also lead to an allergic reaction.

Thus, according to her, a person may experience digestive problems due to the development of fermentation processes in the intestine.

The doctor added that apricots contain vitamin A and beta-carotene, which helps to strengthen the immune system and reduces the risk of infectious diseases, vitamins C, B, B1 and E and minerals, such as magnesium, phosphorous, iodine, iron, and potassium, needed for the nervous system and cardiovascular systems. The high fiber content helps to normalize cholesterol and positively affects the digestive system.

The doctor told the agency: “However, despite all the benefits, a healthy person cannot eat no more than 250-300 grams of apricots per day.

In addition, the apricot kernel is not to be eaten – it contains amygdalin. This substance, even in small concentrations dangerous to humans, can lead to fatal poisoning.
