 Covid confirmed to 42 people in the state on Friday. This is not the first time so many people are diagnosed with the disease in a day. On March 27, 39 people had already been diagnosed with the disease.

Though the number of patients declined significantly in the first week of May, the number of patients began to increase as people from abroad and outside the state began to arrive. On Friday, 40 of those diagnosed with the disease were from outside. A person in Kannur district got infected by contact. A health worker also got sick through contact.

Two patients in Malappuram treated negatively. A total of 216 people are currently undergoing treatment. 512 have so far been diagnosed.

Pokkkillamth Khadija Kutty, wife of the late Muhammed of Anjangadi, Kettungal, Thrissur, died on Tuesday. With this the death toll in the state increased to four. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan offered condolences to Pareta’s family
