Prof. Dr. Todor Kantardjiev from the National Operations Headquarters presented current data on the spread of coronavirus in the country.
For yesterday the new cases of coronavirus in the country are 41, of which 11 are in hospital. 1450 studies were performed.
The constant increase in the number of studies does not lead to an increase in the number of newly discovered cases. I want to emphasize this because I have been hearing for weeks that no research is being done and that is why we have no cases, said Prof. Dr. Todor Kantardzhiev.
The number of cured is 42. Again, we have a larger number of newly cured than new patients. The total number of proven cases is 2372. The increase is 1.8%. The active cases are 1478.
8 of the new cases are in Sofia. There are two in “Alexandrovska”, in ISUL “Tsaritsa Yoana” – 1, in “Pirogov” also 1, and there are 4 for home treatment.
There are 17 new cases in Pazardzhik.
Prof. Dr. Todor Kantardzhiev – Director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases: This is the cluster that is in the auto parts factory. Thank God, there, according to the information we have at headquarters, the measures were taken long before the new cases were opened, some of the workers were on leave, and those who had worked would be released for final disinfection, and then those who have been on leave will replace them. In this way the work process is not interrupted and the health of the people is preserved as much as possible.
The professor recalled that it was it is very important to take action early during an epidemicbecause then even if they are stricter, the effect is much lower.
There is one new case each in Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil and Smolyan.
Unfortunately there is another new case of medical staff – a nurse from Knezha. “The biggest risk for the medical staff is when taking off the individual protective equipment,” said Prof. Kantardzhiev.
The total number of cured is 769. Two were discharged from “Pirogov”, the capital’s RHI released 24 who were under home treatment. In Pleven there are six, in Veliko Tarnovo – three, in Smolyan – also three, in Plovdiv – two, in Silistra and Sliven – one each.
There are 5 dead. A 78-year-old man in Pirogov with diabetes, a man and a woman in Pazardzhik, in Stara Zagora, a 51-year-old woman with cancer and an 88-year-old man in Yambol with a stroke.
Prof. Dr. Todor Kantardzhiev – Director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases: Because we notice that in our society there is a lot of talk that in our country mortality is low not because measures are taken in time and because there are few sick, but because we don’t have many elderly people. To these people I will say the following: To a large extent, the severity of this infection depends on two causesI have been emphasizing them for some time, thank God, with low audience. The first reason depends on the number of viruses you have been infected with. If you use protective equipment, distance, and get infected, you get sick more easily because few viruses affect your body. And the second very important thing about the course of the infection and the outcome, this is the number of receptors in your organs in which this virus will be caught. It turns out that in children these receptors are much less than in adults in the respiratory system. Therefore, the children had almost no clinical manifestation of the disease.
The most affected area is Sofia district and Sofia city. There are 995 cases, of which 126 are in hospitals, 19 in intensive care.
