Nearly three weeks after the start of the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in France, the general practitioner Jérôme Marty was indignant on BFM TV for the lack of resources for the nursing staff. Contaminated, doctors, he said, risk transmitting the disease “from room to room”.

Invited this March 16 on the set of BFM TV, Jérôme Marty, general practitioner and president of the French Union for Free Medicine (UFML), one of the unions of liberal doctors, has ranted against the lack of equipment for nursing staff.

According to Marty, doctors are “totally helpless” and above all are at risk of being infected and transmitting the disease “from room to room”.

“The role of a doctor is to treat patients. Currently you know what we do? We do like the colonial non-commissioned officer: we shit! That is to say that we, ourselves, are finding protocols, things to manage because we are in need. ”

We are in need of outfits, we are in need of tests, we are in need of everything […]. The wave will be taken in the mouth in about a week. We play with our lives there! We play with the lives of caregivers, ”warns Jérôme Marty.

Update on the situation in France

The Covid-19 has already affected more than 6,600 people and has killed 148. The Grand-Est is one of the areas most affected by the coronavirus, since the outbreak of the epidemic, because it is “part of an evangelical gathering which took place in the Haut-Rhin, with more than 3,000 people and a non-respect of the barrier measures ”, according to the prefect of Grand-Est. “We are paying a high price for not taking into account basic measures,” regretted the senior official.
