UEFA is preparing a revolutionary formula to end European club tournaments. The plant’s plan is to use the Final Four format. The four teams that will reach the semifinals will compete for the trophies in two 1/2-finals in one match and then the final will be played. The three Champions League clashes will take place in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul, which is set to host the final on May 30th.
The same plan is for the Europa League Final Four. The matches will be played in the Polish city of Gdansk, which was selected to host the finals of the second-most tournament in Europe.
The project will be put to the vote on Tuesday and will be attended by representatives of the 55 UEFA associations. At the videoconference, Secretary Giorgio Marquets will present the plan, but it is not yet clear when the coronavirus crisis will be dealt with.
