On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the American magazine Time has launched the project ‘100 women of the year’ to highlight women who have been eclipsed by male personalities over the decades.
The magazine acknowledged that its traditional title of Person of the Year has been mostly granted to men, so it decided to make a list of the most prominent women of each year from 1920 to the present day.
“To honor these women, we have created 89 new covers of Time, many of which were designed by leading artists,” detailed The magazine, before clarifying that it left intact the covers with the 11 women who, in fact, were named people of the year at the time.
In 2019, coincidentally, a woman was named person of the year by the magazine: Greta Thunberg. The Swedish activist, with 16 years on the occasion, became the youngest person to receive this title throughout history.
