MONTEVIDEO (Sputnik) – In six days, 620 people were apprehended in Paraguay for failing to comply with the quarantine to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, police chief María Elena Andrada reported.
“They were apprehended [detenidas y acusadas] 620 people from Saturday to today for failing to comply with social isolation and quarantine, decreed by the Government to mitigate the covid-19, “the Paraguayan Police Chief, María Elena Andrada, told the state-run Radio Nacional de Paraguay, according to the station on the social network Twitter.
The Government decreed a health emergency and the restriction of movement of vehicles and people between 20:00 and 04:00 local time (23:00 to 07:00 GTM).
In addition, on March 21, the president, Mario Abdo Benítez, ordered by decree to extend the quarantine period until Sunday, April 12.
Likewise, the total isolation policy began on March 21 and runs until Saturday 28.
In Paraguay there are 52 confirmed cases of COVID-19, three deceased and four hospitalized patients.
