Robert Lewandowski is the next big name to dig deep into the pouch to fight the corona virus. The Polish attacker from Bayern Munich, together with his partner Anna, has made a sum of one million euros available to win the fight against the dreaded lung virus.
Lewandowski and his partner confirm opposite BILD to donate one million euros, although it is not exactly clear how the money will be used. “We are all aware of the difficult situation around us. Today we are all teammates on the same team,” the couple said in a comment. “Let’s be strong in this fight. If we can help someone, let’s do that.”
Lewandowski and his partner call on the people to follow instructions from the authorities. “This situation affects everyone, so we ask everyone to follow the instructions and listen to the knowledgeable people. Show responsibility! We believe our normal lives will return soon. We all need to deal with this situation and stand side by side. ” So far, 77 people have died in Germany from the coronavirus; Worldwide, the counter has been around 13,000 dead since Friday.
Lewandowski’s donation comes a day after his Bayern team-mates Leon Goretzka and Joshua Kimmich announced that they will make one million euros available to fight the corona virus. Goretzka and Kimmich set up the ‘WE KICK CORONA’ initiative and soon received support from other major footballers, including Mats Hummels, Julian Brandt (both Borussia Dortmund), Julian Draxler, Thilo Kehrer (Paris Saint Germain), Leroy Sané ( Manchester City) Sead Kolasinac (Arsenal). The counters of “WE KICK CORONA” are already on Friday evening at more than 2.5 million euros.
