Hessa chief minister Volker Bofier said Schaeffer was deeply concerned about the potential adverse impact on the economy following the spread of the virus worldwide.
Fifty-four-year-old Schaeffer was found dead near a railway track on Saturday. Schaefer’s death shocked everyone and everyone was very sad, Boiffier said in a news release.
The country’s leading financial institutions, Deutsche Bank and Commerce Bank, are located in Hesse, Frankfurt, Germany’s financial headquarters. The European Central Bank is also in Frankfurt.
Schaefer has been Hessa’s finance minister for the past 10 years. Boeffer said the country was in need of an experienced person like Schaeffer when the country was facing a financial crisis, and Schaefer’s death caused a tremendous loss. Schaeffer is a CDU member of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. He is survived by his wife and two children.
