Case observers in times of corona: ‘We are a kind of general practice’

The global corona crisis has also deeply affected the football world. Especially the smaller, less energetic clubs are in danger of getting into big financial problems. World football association FIFA should therefore come up with an emergency fund as soon as possible, according to agents Rob Jansen and Revien Kanhai.

“FIFA, UEFA and players’ union FIFPro are rich in wealth and will have to use their financial reserves to help clubs,” said Jansen. “That was also the result of a video conference that I recently had with the world federation of agents. And players and brokers also have to make their financial contribution.”

No government

Revien Kanhai, agent of David Neres, Lasse Schöne and Siem de Jong, among others, agrees. “The football world has no government. FIFA is actually the governing government and I know it has enough financial reserves,” said Kanhai.

“And where necessary, the financially stronger clubs should support the smaller ones,” the broker continues. “It is an exceptional situation. Just as in the European Union, we must work together to ensure that the market remains healthy.”
