The League of Arab States decided to postpone the holding of its regular periodic summit, which is scheduled to be held before the end of March of each year, due to fears of the spread of the new Corona virus.

The university’s Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said in an interview with Al-Arabiya Al-Hadath TV: “I monitored an uncomfortable atmosphere globally regarding the Coruna virus and its spread in Italy and Iran, and there was a state of instability.”

He added that after contacting the Algerian side – where a summit is scheduled for this year there – it was agreed to hold the summit immediately after Ramadan, no later than the third week of June.

The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, began the day before yesterday, Saturday, a visit to Algeria to prepare for the upcoming Arab summit to be held in Algeria, which will discuss the issues of Libya and Syria and the developments of the Palestinian issue.

Aboul Gheit said, Saturday, that there is a global emergency related to the new Corona virus, which could lead to the postponement of the holding of the Arab summit in Algeria, scheduled at the end of next March, to the middle of this year.

“The Arab summit will definitely be held in Algeria, and Algeria has the right to set the date in consultation with the Arab countries,” he added in a press conference with the Algerian Foreign Minister, Sabri Bogadoum.

On the other hand, the Algerian Ministry of Health announced, Monday evening, two new confirmed infections with the Corona virus, bringing the number of HIV infections to five.
