VP’s Team of the Week: PSV trumps Vitesse and Twente as main supplier

We can say a lot about the 23rd Eredivisie round, but not that he passed unnoticed. We have seen surprising victories, handsome comebacks and an insane closing phase, in occasional apocalyptic weather conditions. VoetbalPrimeur takes stock: FC Twente and Vitesse deliver two delegates to our Team of the Week, PSV is the main supplier with three people, one of whom is employed in The Hague.

Luuk Koopmans (ADO The Hague)
For ADO, the situation is getting worse every week, but Koopmans remained proud against his actual employer. Although the guests won 0-3, PSV might have achieved double digits without the strong closing post. Perhaps the strongest PSV player on the field.
Denzel Dumfries (PSV)
Speaking of strong PSV players … The people of Eindhoven seem to have crawled out of the valley for a while and Dumfries has been in old-fashioned shape again since the New Year. Also against ADO he formed a great tandem with Mohamed Ihattaren. If the PSV captain continues this form, it can still be a beautiful Orange summer for him.
Urby Emanuelson (FC Utrecht)
Not long ago, Emanuelson walked around with a long face in De Galgenwaard: the routine man barely got around to playing and saw a reunion with Frank de Boer fall into the water at Atlanta United. The world now looks very different. The left leg is of necessity right in the heart of the defense, but does an excellent job: against Willem II he was also one of the better Utrecht players.
Julio Pleguezuelo (FC Twente)
Another defensive change of position: Pleguezuelo will be in the center of the rear in 2020 and doing a lot better there than on the right flank. FC Twente played with AZ in the throat, but swore against the crisis, with the flourished Spaniard as the major player.

Ramon Pascal Lundqvist (FC Groningen)
The first half of the season at Lundqvist was dominated by an injury and commuting between the base and the bank. In 2020 the Swede will be a lot better. Against Sparta he was even decisive, thanks to a very nice assist on Joel Asoro and a hit.
Oussama Tannane (Vitesse)
After the home game against SC Heerenveen, he complained about the fact that he was ‘wanted’ by referees. He did it himself: Tannane played an excellent game and was good for a goal and a nice assist on Bryan Linssen. For the time being, he has won the battle for ’10’ against Riechedly Bazoer, a six-time Orange-international match. Now it’s up to Tannane to show how well he can play football for a longer time.
Ryan Thomas (PSV)
If the victories on William II and ADO may be labeled as the resurrection of PSV, Thomas will enter the books as one of the most important pillars of that resurrection. The New Zealander is back completely after a long-term injury oath: for the time being he is a more than welcome reinforcement for the Eindhoven residents as a shadow striker.

Steven Berghuis (Feyenoord)
It didn’t go very well in Zwolle and Feyenoord was well on its way to suffering its first league defeat under Dick Advocaat. And then the leader got up. The harvest of the stormy football afternoon: one flawless cross on Leroy Fer and beautiful goals from just outside the box of sixteen.
Queensy Menig (FC Twente)
Only the most fanatic FC Twente followers will have known that Menig was still walking around in Enschede. Against AZ, however, he again had a chance, which the rapier attacked with both hands. The unleashed Menig showed his team the way to a surprising home win.
Lennart Thy (PEC Zwolle)
In the end, PEC was of little use, but the attack leader provided the Feyenoord defense with a lot of work. His second goal of the rainy football afternoon was of great class: hitting in a full penalty area, turning away and shooting in with opposition.
Bryan Linssen (Vitesse)
Good for at least ten competitive goals per football season, but Linssen is in the shape of his life this season – at the age of 29. Two goals against Heerenveen, Eredivisie top scorer shared with Cyriel Dessers … Where will this end?
