According to a statement from the White House, Trump made “full amnesty” decisions for 7 people and signed decisions that included the mitigation of all 4 prisoners’ sentences.
Among those who have been punished are former New York Police Department Commissioner Bernard Kerik, 4 years convicted of tax fraud and lies of investigators, and financier Michael Milken, convicted of “insider trading”.
Among those who have been ordered to ease their sentence are former Illiniois Governor Rod Blagojevich, who appeared to have been bribed by the former US President, Barack Obama, for the vacant Senate seat. Thus, Blagojevich was reduced from 14 to 8 years.
Trump’s decisions have sparked a reaction on both the Democratic and Republican fronts.
